and cichilids i pronounce as si-chi-lid....i would feel stupid saying sick-lid even if that it the right way to pronounce it...

Sorry to say you're spelling AND pronouncing it wrong.

It's spelled cichlid (you got an extra i in there), and pronounced sick-lid.

I always say pleck-o.

Not sure what you mean for the difference between ju-lee or Ju-lie ... they sound the same to me! I always say it like the girls name.

Actually, it's julie-eye. both 'i's are pronounced (my favourite cory )

These days I just point at the fish and grin at the lfs employee and they know what I mean.

Or if I want them to order a particular fish I write it in a piece of paper, hand it over then raise an eyebrow in a "hmm, how bout that then, ey?" manner.

They probably think I am insane.
