i think you should do both.
that algae is diatoms associated with new set ups and ammonia.

adding more plants will help with the reduction of that, but obviously more plants equals more ferts!

you could try lowering the lighting period to 6 hours for a couple of weeks too, this will help.

Got ym ferts today and made them up , i started on the thursday schedule on the guide, should i notice the algea kinda of stop coming back straight away or willit take sometime?
