If I read your post correctly, your willing to give up all your other fish for this one gar fish? It's your choice, of course. But I'm very glad you're moving everything else out of the tank.
Hopefully, this won't sound too rude. But I hope that you plan on doing some research on the species of fish you have. They are your responsibility from the moment you bring them home and you need to know what environment they need to be in, as well as what other species they're compatible with, if you choose to place them in a community tank. You have chosen to have fish, therefore, you must be able to provide them with what each species needs to be happy and healthy. And uneaten by other fish.
