Mopani/bog Wood

Hi all
I have set up a new aquarium and added mopani wood as we all know it gets covered in a whitish film which i assume is a harmless bacteria it usually disappears after a few weeks,but it not very nice looking.

Yesterday i added 2 apple snails and now the film/slime has gone.
The wood is clean and looking great so there is the solution to the problem.
I am sure this observation helps to rectify that problem many have when adding new woods.Add some apple snails.

mine used to get a light algy coating, but its dissapeared...

i stopped killing all my apple snails and let them be for abit so guess thats who's eat it all
