I got a 24 gallon tank that I Cycled and I planted over 2/3s of it with live plants. 2 32 watts of 6700/10000k lights.
I just bought a new CT betta today and he was very active when he was in the cup at the lps and he seemed like he liked me as hes was moving around in the container and looking at me like he wanted me to take him, so I did.
When I put him in the new tank he went to a corner and sit behind a plant for like 30 minutes.and then when he would see me he would go hide again behind a plant he seems to like at the bank of the tank, untill I would leave then he would swim around some.
About 1 hour ago I saw him out and he was snapping up some daphina (water flees, that I must have had gotton off some plants when I bought them and they have been in the tank while it was cycleing) like they was candy, one right after another.
So I thought he was hungry, So, I waited till he came to the front of the tank, and i dropped some Hikari bio gold in there and he snapped it up real quick, he ate 4 of them then wouldnt eat anymore.
I have eco-complete about 5 1/2 to 6 inches of it, and he spends mnst of his time almost looking though it, is that normal? going head down into it.
I have turned off the lights now, and he is swimming around more, but he stops and just sits at the bottom for long periods of time then will dart though the filter waves and will dart around the tank real fast then rest again, lol, is that normal?
He seems to like the bottom more then the top, as he likes this clump of grass and lays behind it alot, he does come up for air every once in awhile. but not to often. he is not breathing hard so take it he is getting enough oxygen.
The tank came with moon lights 2 blue leds, would this stress him out more and not let him sleep, or would it be ok to use them?.
or should I wait a few days and then try it?
Advice would be appreciated.
I will try to take a picture of him tomarrow if he will stay out long enough for me to get some.
