Before I knew much about aquarium plants, I got some mondo grass.
Then I found out that it doesn't do very well in full-blown fish tanks, but is rather meant for reptiles tanks and that kind of stuff.
Well, I went ahead and put the mondo into my tank because i LOVE the way it looks. I decided I would just cut it away and toss it as it started dying, then eventually replace it. Well, it's been in the tank for almost 8 weeks now and it's growing like mad and is just as green as the prairie grass.

Is this odd?
Is it just because I have compact fluorescents in there that I leave on for a good 8 hours a day?

Mondo grass lasts longer in water than most non aquatic plants. With good lighting, and kept constantly submerged, it could live up to 3 months. (from some accounts)

Oooh - so I could have several more weeks with it. Goodie! I love that stuff.
It's just sooo cool.

I like it even more since I found out I'm not supposed to really have it in my fish tank.
