I bought a Dalmatian Molly from Petsmart and she was heavily pregnant.  She gave birth last night and now she is humpbacked.  Has anyone else seen this type of problem and is it very common?

Picture please! We can tremendously increase the chance of identifying your problem with them!

Sometimes old live bearing fish develop a curved back. It can also be from her pushing too hard and actually straining her back.

I have this problem with a few guppies of mine. It does seem to give them much discomfort. My theory on this is that the litter is to large causing the fry to push up in to the backbone thus causing a curved spine. Only because I only have this problem with females who have about 25-45 fry in a single litter.

If they are older and have bred a lot unfortunately livebearer females can become deformed, but I agree not easy to say for sure without a photo.

This is my Dalmatian molly
