So I'm thinking of having a Molly guppie and platy tank are all these fish ok to have in one tank

The tank I'm thinking of having them in is a juwel rio 400 ( 450l) tank

I've got 14 mollies already
I'm thinking of having 5x female guppies and 2x males
And one of my mates has just had 27 platy fry and her tank isn't big enough so I've offerd to have some off her

Are these all ok to have together or is it a bad idea ??

all livebearers are good together dont know about the more uncommon ones though but these are fine and you should get bristlenose plecs and cories :good:

Cool thanks for replying and I just wanted a all Molly tank but as I said above I'm taking in some platy fry and thought #28### it I might as well get some guppies while I'm at it just got to figure out which guppies as there's quite a few variant guppies

That's assuming you have a sand substrate, rather than a sharp gravel substrate. And assuming you want bristlenose plecs and cories.....

I've got 2 x 15kg Argos play sand for my tank when I pick it up on the 24th and I have been looking at plecs but they'll be at a later date

Fair do's.

To answer your initial question, they are fine together, there may be a bit of aggression from the mollies and guppies, but in large enough groups, the aggression should be widely spread out so that any individual fish shouldn't suffer too much.

I would suggest you don't have that much cover in your tank - your females will be popping fry all over the place, and if too many survive, you'll soon be overstocked. Best let them be naturally predated upon by the other fish.

I was thinking about aggression between them

I did want to breed them but obv not to a extent of being over run. There's not many people near me that are selling these type of live bearers so I'm hoping I'll be able to sell 98% of the baby's on and keep a couple ( ones I like )

In general mollies, guppies and platies will do fine together. Once in a while we find an aggressive molly, but that can happen in an all-molly tank just as easily. All 3 fish will also appreciate much the same water conditions of fairly hard water at around 72 to 75F, 22 to 24C.

Thanks for replying oldman and thanks for the advice. I've got one male who is the more aggressive at the moment so when he starts bullying I put him in my fry large DIY fry trap for half hour to calm him down and it stops him for couple days :good:
