Molly Giving Birth

Went to Petco today. Asked about their fish deliveries they come in on Tuesdays. Couldnt resist when I saw a lyretail black molly who was very much pregnant. Had to get her lol. She looks like shes ready to deliver any minute. Ive been looking online for a good fish retailer but havent had much luck want to get some different colors going in my tank. Any websites you recommend for buying guppies, mollys, platys? Thanks

In the US, Aquabid has some good vendors advertising. Be sure to check reputations before bidding but many of them have very nice fish. I know that Tampafishman1 and Swampriveraquatics are both good and have bought some cories from Floridaguppiesplus with good results.

Thanks for the info. Also have another question. I've been keeping an eye on my tanks and I've been testing with the quick strips test strips. Seems I keep having a problem with nitrate levels. Sometimes they are right on the money sometimes they spike. Any idea how to take care of the problem? Anything I can buy to help? Babies Update: They are loving life in their own 10 gal tank. They love to hover around to one side of the tank---near the heater :) Thanks for all the help!

If you are seeing high nitrates, not nitrites, that is an indication that it is time to do a water change. Regular water changes are essential to good health for your fry so do a 30% or more water change and get your nitrates under control. The fry won't even notice it unless you suck them up the water change tube. If you do, just net them out of the bucket and back into the tank. They will be fine.
