Molly Gasping For 24 Hours

dont see that being a problem, theyre hardy fish. are they showing any odd behaviour?

i dont think you answered about why you were giving the fish that medication...

Heres a good read on salt http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/health/salt.shtml

Thanks for the link on salt, I am reading it now.

The platys are fine, no odd behavior at all.

My other dalmation molly died 2 weeks ago from being skinny and having a curved spine. I figured he must have had internal parisites. I treated the whole tank in case any of the other fish had them.

It became curved?? Or was it a balloon molly?

Right found a great link here - i wonder if he has the shimmies - it seems to be a common problem with mollies. Get that salt in lol!

Yeah he definatly has the shimmies. The link says 3-5 grams per litre. In my experience 1 teaspoon per gallon is 0.1%. What do you recommend?

edit : I just checked your other link where it is explained. should I start with 0.1%?

also I have plants

Oh and to answer your question it was a dalmation mollie and it became curved and really skinny.

dont think its a good idea to add salt to planted tanks, if im right. you'll prob find that answer in the plant section though.
do you have a quarantine tank? if not no worries, just keep an eye on the platies when u add salt. im sorry ive not even read the post to be honest  will read it now lol

erm, marine salt (dont use table salt! and make up a solution, dont pour it in in granular form) i have no idea about. personally i'd use scales! just use a gallon to litre conversion calculator online too.

ok im off to bed (5.15am is a bit late lol) - let me know how it goes - i bet he perks up really quickly!

crappy crap crappers!! :( While I was waiting for the salt to dissolve he passed away. I wonder if it was the lack of salt that killed both of them.

awwwww oh no  well if they both had the same symptoms it could have been, but it may also have been something else. it happens, at least if you get any more you know what to do x

The two platys are doing well. Eating, playing, and acting good. I have some carbon in the filter to remove any residual prazi. I bought some new micro granule tropical food for them yesterday, they seemed excited to have something different. I was really looking for daphnia but my pet store is limited in what they have (they only have nutrifin products).
