Molly Fry too Small For Her Age!

 Eggs yolks? I never heard about feeding fry that! So, I just boil an egg and grind up the yolk into a powder and give it to them. Thanks Chewy! I'm going to try that and see if it helps their growth! Wow! People here sure have great advice! :D

How many times have you answered this post Chewy. . . hold on let me count. . . 5 replies! You're a good responder!

You almost got it right, you boil the egg, add alittle water and mash it using a spoon into a liquid. Feed then to your frys, it does cloud the water but if you have a filter, it shouldn't be a problem.
Ps - egg yolk grow bad fast, so put it in the fridge when you're done.
Good luck with the frys, Sasha.

:D Thanks for the egg yolk suggestion! I'm going to try that right now and I'll let you know how they react to it and if they eat some. I think they'll enjoy the new treat because it's small enough to fit into their tiny mouths and the yolk contains a lot of nutrition for their grwiing bodies!

:hyper: The fry loved the powered egg yolk! Mandy went crazy over it! She darted around the surface searching for more! The young guppies all swarmed together as Mandy zipped between them. Even the younger fry (that hardly go to the surface becuase they know that any remaining food sinks), they nibbled at it and seemed to enjoy the taste! I'll keep you all updated! :D

Good Sasha, I knew that your frys would love it....
Just a word of caution, make sure you don't feed them once the egg starts to foul...
Good Luck!!

:/ How long should I keep the powdered egg yolk before I dispose of it? Once again, thanks for the great idea!

Ok, first you got the whole egg yolk, then you break a small piece out and mash it with water to feed your frys, at the end of the day, throw that small piece away (if you have not already finish feeding it all).....next day, start all over again...your egg yolk should last you about a week or so...

 OH! Now it's clear! I'm supposed to save the whole egg yolk and just break off pieces of it every day. Thank you for explaining it! :D I thought it would be weird to boil an egg every day!

:D Thanks Chewy for all of the wonderful and helpful advice!

One more question! How often should I feed the fry the egg yolk? -_-

 About 5000 fry could eat a whole egg yolk, but I don't know anyone who has that many! :hyper:

Well, basically half of the number of times you feed them. In other words, if you feed your frys 4 times a day, then you should feed them egg yolk 2 times a day and the other 2 feedings with grind-up flakes....
Now, let me warn you, you MUST siphon off all uneaten pieces of egg yolk or flakes because once they decompose into the water, they will result in high ammonia levels and may bring diseases about....so remember to suck out all the uneaten food....
good luck sasha! :fun:

;) So I feed the fry egg yolk half the number of times daily, that would be two times of each food (egg yolk and crushed flakes.) Thank you so much for giving me all the information Chewy! I going to try to clean the fry tank twice a week and vaccum the gravel also. I'll promise to keep you updated of the fry's progress! :fish:
