Hi, apologies if this has been asked before only joined forum today and already onto my 3rd post! knowledge on here is unbelievable.

I currently have 6 Mollys (5 female and 1 male) i have been told that their diet should be suplemented with green veg - what is best to feed? i currently only have flakes but want to give them best possible diet. I am also going to purchase some algae wafers.

my tank is a fluval roma 240 and in addition to the 6 molly currently houses 12 zebra danios.

I was initially very weary about the inevitable fry but spent my Sunday reading through the first 100 pages on this forum (sad I know), the wealth of advice was incredible.

any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I also want to eventually add 6 cory cats, 4 ghost shrimp and 12-18 cardinal or neon tetra, are these a good match. my water is naturally fairly hard. Thankyou.

not a single reply? it was that silly a question was it?

Hi mitch; sometimes posts just get missed! Your mollies don't really need veggies, unlike things like suckermouth catfish, but you could try them with some lightly cooked, deshelled peas. They go down well with most fish. You might need to squash the peas a bit if the fish are small.

thankyou for the reply, sorry for the impatience just so keen to digest as much information as i can, again thankyou

I sometimes give my mollies a piece of cucumber on a piece of lead weighting (so it sinks). They eat the soft bit in the middle, but leave the skin on the outside. Mollies seem to like them :good:

Welcome to the forum Mitch70.
I see no conflict with feeding both flake and a high vegetable matter diet. What I do is feed plenty of "spirulina flake" which, if you read the actual ingredients on the label, is really a mix of fish meal and vegetable matter. Where that leaves us is feeding a rather high fish meal diet that includes more vegetable material than is typical but is no way lacking in fish proteins as well.
