Why do mollies move with your finger or with another item such as the food can ?

All my fish move with the finger......espcially the cichlids and the platies

my mollies usually do it and my platies do it sometimes but none of the others

our mollies,swordies & esp our baby tiger barbs will follow my fingers & me back & forth up & down the tank..........they know that im the no1 food dispensing machine.....or maybe they just love me ) they all go mad when i appear in the morning when i come home after work - always makes me smile. they dont do the same thing for my husband though so they must be able to recognise the difeerence in us somehow(im the one who always feeds our fish)

Yeah my fish does the same thing! I think fish are more intelligent than people give them credit for!

wait, actually, now that i think about, my angels always want food and they allways follow my whole body around! it's quite fun, it makes em mad, cause they'll try to ram the tank down. :rolf:

all of my fish follow me or my hand when they see me. I guess they do know you are the provider

mine dont follow my finger either .................but they follow the fish food pot
