This is sort of a journal about my selective breeding of Molly(Mother) and Marley(Father). Molly is a Golden Black Speckled Molly and Marley is a Large Chocolate Molly.

Sorry for the bad quality... She's jumpy.

Marley.

He is actually a Chocolate but he looks black because he's really deep Chocolate.

Babies from their first lot.

Once again, sorry for the quality.

I'll try and get more photo's of the babies but they are 2 weeks old on Wednesday and mum isn't even starting to round again so I'm wondering if she'll need mating again before she has any more.

Aww poor babies. Mine love their mum, always following her around.

Mollies don't eat their babies? My platy fry run and hide from mom.....she is usually rather hungry after birth and tends to snack on her youngsters.

shame... darn you nature!!!

But at the same time it is natural selection. If they didn't eat babies, they would be overpopulated, so therefore only the strong and smart survive. In my tank, I kind of welcome it, as I only have so much room. I am actually getting ready to put an add out for free Platys. They way they are breeding it wont be long before they cant move in that tank!

Very generous

If I'd sell them, I'd do them about 50p each, whereas petshops sell them for £1-£3...
I suppose, it cuts out the middle man...

Well they are officially 3 weeks old today. I got a female dalmation molly on Monday who gave birth to 30+ babies the night I got her home. I'm still selectively breeding Marley with my choice of female, which is why he doesn't live in the same tank. I'm also hoping to get some male guppies and breed them with the female mollies so I can get some Muppies or Gollies.

Don't hold your breath Paradise. I have kept mollies and guppies together for many years and have never seen a cross. Although such a cross is possible, it is not common.
