Mollie Fry

My dalmation mollie dropped during the night and when i got up there were only 4 fry, in the space of me going to get a floating hatchery to put the fry in my mollie had eaten 3, i had one left which i transfered into the hatchery, that was about 6 weeks ago, the fry is doin well and doubled in size but i want to know when i can put it into the main tank, i dont want to loose this little one so im scared it could still get eaten.

If your molly fry has doubled in size and you only have mollies in the tank, go ahead and mix the fry with the adults. If you have other fish in the tank, please let us know what they are so that we can judge when the fry will be safe.

I had to put my little fry in the main tank last night dur to the mother being due to fry again, i think the mother was stressed cos she has killed the male dalmation mollie and was fighting with my other lyretail male mollie so i put her in the hatchery and now i have 20 new mollie fry in the last 4 hours, i have put mum back into the main tank and she is still fighting with the male lyretail mollie, but good news is the first baby mollie survived the ight in the big tank and is not hiding away so apart from the two fighting fish everything is good now

Congrats on the new drop. How large is the tank with all of those mollies in it? If it is not very large, you will soon run out of space for growing mollies and will need to send some off to the LFS or sell them in a club auction. That is what I do with my surplus livebearers and I find I often get enough at club auctions to pay my fish food bills. I am feeding 25 tanks so it takes a lot to cover all of the food bills. I just went on line 2 days ago and ordered another pound total of two different flake foods to use as my staple food for my tanks.
