mixing sand with gravel

hey everybody i decided to still intermix grave land sand (for my cories) rather then going pure sand. Are there actually ways to prevent the sand becoming mixed with the gravel constantly ? you know divide it or something ? or should i just stick to the gravel and hopefully my cories wouldnt mind ?

You can use pieces of slate to separate the two, like building a small wall. That way you can create two sections of the tank with different substrate. This way you can also create different levels in your tank.
