Missing Lid Piece

I bought a cheap 10 gallon trapezoid shaped tank from my friend. Part of the lid is missing. I was going to spraypaint the lid to make it look nice and wanted to know if maybe I could make this piece or if I should either leave as is or try to find new lid

No I'm afraid I can't I don't have the tank yet the lid I'd a trapezoid shape but then the front is bow shaped the hole is near back he said he lost the piece it's maybe an 8 inch by 5 inch hole

So does any 1 think I could make it or should I try to buy a new lid?

Without a photo to look at I cant realy advise on building your own lid piece. It sounds do'able but post a piccy asap.

Well I also could just buy a brand new tank he is selling me his ten gallon tank with everything but this lid piece for $37 he is also giving me 2 tetras a neon and a bleeding heart a Borneo sucker and a glass catfish. I'm going to use this tank as a fry tank

The bleeding heart won't. They also get too big for an 8 or 10 gallon tank. I'd put him in the 29 gallon and buy him some friends if you have the room.

The neon tetras might, but I've never owned neons or cardinals before, though I can hardly tell the difference.
