Missing Fish

Hey guys im well confused last night i had 10 neons 5 bronze corrys and a BN in my tank now this morning 5 neons are missing i stripped tank looked behind in te hood everything possible. Any one?

Very strange for 5 to have dissapeared!

As LM said, could be in or stuck behind a filter? My Cherry Shrimp "live" (more like "sleep" i think) behind my internal

How did they get in? Perhaps put something over the inlet? I have a Fluval U2 with two "ports" that blow water into the tank, but only one can be used at a time, so as i only use the top one i have the bottom one covered, as even a slender Cory could probably get in it, and since i have the middle media tray out, they would have a straight fall onto the impellor!

Ooooh, not nice. I suspect that they died, and then got sucked into the filter, rather than got dragged into the filter and that's what killed them. It's hugely unusual for a healthy fish to be dragged into a filter by the current, let alone 5 healthy fish.

Have you done a water test recently?

No idea i sont think i closed it properly last tjme where u adjust the water speed theres a little gap there. Lesson learned

Agree with LM, healthy fish dont normally get sucked in, but daft/curious fish might swim in given the chance.

As you said, lesson learned. We'll never know if they were just daft fish, or if they were given an opporunity by you leaving it open, and took it.

Either way, sorry for your losses. Looks like your LFS are going the be the ones benefiting!

They where only small neons water is fine.
I can see how it happened bits of food is in the gap i cleaned it out and put net iver it now

I'd advise you put one of those missing signs up on your local lamp post, You know like they do for missing cats and dogs

I have a similar situation to this.

I lost two juvenile silvertip tetra. Pulled apart and meticulously went through my Ehiem filter. Up rooted my jungle vals and a couple other plants. Something that completely unbalanced my tank and now this week, (water change day) I have nitrates for the first time in 8 months.

Still haven't found them!

One of my Glowlights has dissappeared too..i originally had 6...took it all apart...no sign! very strange
