I just glanced over at my dwarf puffer tank and saw something I would never expect to see in there... a LIVE snail! Even though the puffers are tiny, I've seen them kill and eat snails three times their size. This was a ramshorn snail about twice as big as them.

There's no telling how long that guy has been in there, so I figured he deserved a reward for surviving so long and moved him to the nice safe betta tank. He didn't have any feelers and his foot had little puffer mouth-sized bites out of it

As an aside, I feel lucky that there has so far been no aggression between my two puffers who are still happily living in a 5 gallon together ;)

what kind of puffers do you have?

If you have 2 in a 5 gal. then I should be able to keep one or two in a 10 gallon right??

They're dwarf puffers, and are a true freshwater species. Generally it's only safe to keep one in a 5 gallon due to aggression issues, but I got lucky *knock on wood*. You could easily keep a couple in a 10 gallon though, yes

It's one of the smaller species of ramshorn, Tokis-Phoenix. I've got them in almost all my tanks and really like them, since they aren't keen to munch on my plants. They always sneak in when I buy live plants
