So my mom bought a 55 gallon with everything set up including some fish for $50.00 and I was thinking about taking the fish that came with it and putting them in my 120 gallon. They are 10 tiger barbs and 6 black skirt tetra. I have been watching their behavior and as many people have told me they are fin nippers, I have not seen one nip at anything! I even added 2 new fish and they welcomed them right in.

So do you think they would do okay in my 120 gallon? The fish I have in it now are in my sig.

The reason why I am interested in moving them is because I think my mom wants that tank to be her "own" so she can have her own fish you know? Because that is one of the best things in this hobby, to have your OWN fish. IMO it is anyway.

The Tigers Barbs will absolutely shred the fins of fish like Angels or a Male Betta. Looking over your list I didn't see anything with long fins but that is what you want to look out for. I didn't evaluate whether your tank is fully stocked or not or any other criteria you would need to look out for.

All the stuff in your 120G seems to have a fairly small bioload, so I think it would be possible, but you will be very close to buggaring your tank.

Only thing is... Shark Catfish? Are you sure as these are brackish fish that can grow really massive!

Yea, the 55 gallon is brackish right now as the previous owner kept it brackish and I didn't want to switch it to freshwater 100% and like freak the fish out since they have been used to having salt in their water for 2 years. My boyfriend brought them home so my mom is going to keep them for now until they get massive. They are about 2 inches in length now and when they reach about 6 inches they will be given to a community aquarium.

EDIT: I wouldn't be moving the shark catfish to my 120 gallon, they would stay in the 55. Only the smaller tetras, black skirt tetras, and tiger barbs would go in my 120.
