Hey,

So I was just doing a water change (changing slightly more than normal) and forgot to turn the heater off.

By the time I realised it had melted part of one of the plastic loops that it sits in to stay secure on the side of the tank.

I've put the heater back in the tank and it appears to be working but I just want to make sure that the little bit of melted plastic on the heater will not affect the fish in any way.

Thanks in advance!

Did the plastic actually drip? I did this the other week and melted a heater guard, I did some extra water changes just to make sure any contaminants were no longer in the tank.

Hi, No i don't think any plastic dripped in the tank, The loop melted in half and the under side of it started going down towards the water but i'm pretty sure none of it dripped in the tank. It's mainly just the bit of plastic left on the heater i was wondering about.

If you can clean it off, I should just to be safe. Plastics can contain some nasty stuff when its heated up. My lot were ok after my "accident" :D

I'm pretty sure It'll be fine

done it myself and I did nothing other than fill the tank back up.
