Melon

By accident a week ago I dropped some water melon into my tank of two danios, I was going to get it out but one of the danios ate it as it sank and didn't spit it out and seemed to enjoy it. He's still alive and I was wondering if danios can eat melon?

Well it's mainly water, it wouldn't do any harm.

It enjoyed it as much as blood worm, could I include it in its diet or would that just be stupid since as much as it enjoys blood worm it's not exactly the best for it.

I'm not sure about this but I am trying to picture why you would be hovvering a piece of melon over your tank.

I was eating it at the same time, had just got in from a 3 day conference and hadn't eaten, thought they'd be after some food too in that time.

I like my fish to be happy, they're favourites are goldfish flakes and blood worm, they don't like tropical pellets and the flakes are the same stuff anyway. But if they like melon and its not harmful I don't mind feeding them it but not if it will do some damage.

To be fair, most fish will try to swallow anything. It being edible is a bonus to them. It won't do them harm but it won't do them much good nutrition wise either. It's mostly water, like I said. Plus if any is uneaten it may foul the water. If you want to feed veggies maybe try blanched lettuce and courgette, or shelled cooked peas.

I plan feeding things like blood worm a day before the weekly water change anyway and make sure I get it up. I don't think I'll risk it at the moment I've searched the internet and no mention of fruit any where.

My goldfish used to like tiny tiny bits of orange, but they only got a bit every few months.

Seriously if you wanted to give them a tiny bit every so often, do so. It won't harm them.
