Just back from my LFS, no Bettafix, but they did have Melafix...
So I'm using a smaller dose

For a split tail I would just recommend daily water changes. With clean water rhis should heal straight away. Keep a eye on it so it doesn't get too bad.
In my experience I would never use melafix again :)

Was just about to say the same thing, clean water is the only thing needed for split fins :good:

+1

I never had a problem using melafix as I never had betafix in my area to get. Though I've found adding a little bit of salt and frequent water changes works better than anything else.

i've never kept beta. but melafix definitely does work.

for a split fin on any of my fish i just do water changes and if it's really bad i add a little salt. split fins heal easily and quickly in clean water.

I have been doing water changes daily for the past week; no change.
I added a small amount of salt to the water; also made no difference.
The split started getring worse, larger and larger each day.
I read on numerous websites that using melafix would help... So i bought some.
I added a small amount to the tank, and already, just overnight, i saw an improvment. :)
