I can't beleieve this I have just come home with 1 x 3ft and 1 x 2ft tank and everything they need to be set up heaters filters a lovely air stone that makes a bubble curtain, gravel, net, ornaments and other bits n bobs all for £60. Now I need a stand, some time, and eventually the fish. I'm chuffed to rocks - excuse the pun. Off to do a scrubbing session.

Hmm.. a Brit coming home with cheap but dirty fishtanks...

You've been bootsailing haven't you?

Good job!

It was from our local free ads paper(Trade-it, in Bristol). I was really lucky because after hunting e bay last night I had a sudden idea to try the Trade-it website, and I don't think the ad had actually reached the printing press, because the chap said I was the first to ring. I've just been having a closer look there is a whole bag of plastic plants, a large rock ornament (like about 16inch wide and about 10 tall) a cou-ple of other ornaments, a spare heater and filter all in one unit, another spare heater, several bottles of water treatment etc (might be out of date, will probably chuck them) loads of tubing, food etc. all together there are two tanks, a huge bucket of gravel, another bucket and three carrier bags of bits n bobs.

As for stocking I have no idea yet. The main priority is obviously going to be getting it all celaned up, filled and cycled. Plenty of time for fish (she says sadly comtemplating weeks of waiting). I really don't want anything mauch larger than dwarf gouramis though, and tend to prefer the common shoaling fish. Neon tetras are my favourite but since reading these forums I've come to realise they are probably not the best choice as they aren't very hardy. Ultimatley I'd like to imagine the 3ft one with an aloxitil, but that's at least a couple of years away, I don't want to start out with anything that complex.

Well done you  Looks like you're going to be busy for quite a while. Just a thought, how about finding someone with an established tank and begging some of their gravel and used filter material. The tanks will cycle quicker that way.
