:D so I finally talked my mom into letting me get a betta for my empty 10 gallon, so we went to Petco and got Lemonjello, a pale yellow VT. She fell inlove with him, (he did the wiggle feed me now dance) and decided I could get another, so we went to Petsmart this time (the one near me got really good, theres a really knowlagable guy that works there). The betta cups were discusting, and the blue water made them hard to see the color of the fish. So, since I love pale orange/yellow bettas, I went for the lightest color I could find in one of the smaller dirtier cups (I wanted to rescue him sort of..). So we bought him and when i got him out of his cup he turned out to be a beautiful pale yellow/orange VT with some darker spots on his tail. We got a tank divider and made each betta their own 5 gallon habitat, and I got one ghost shrimp for each side to help clean alittle bit.

The bettas flared for a bit but the quit and are now either resting in the pennywort, or swimming around happily.

Lemonjello. (this pic made the gill area look black, in reality it looks completely normal)

The black fin area is called the "beard." He is flaring! lol

I would try to add some plants or decor along the divider to give more privacy to the boys. Then they can swim about without the stress of seeing the other boy so in full view.

They are lovely! I am being tempted. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:  I love VTs!

I am currently on the search for plants to go along the dividers thats tallish and isnt a val. All of my vals melt becuase the pH is 6.5 out of the tap :(

 6.5 that's good--well better that hard water. Most of your tropicals will love you. It is easier to raise the ph than lower it.

Wish I had pennywort! --other than the plastic stuff!

Orangejello looks like my Koi did when he was in his prime ...he is now in with the OAPs but I still love him

ps lovely fish and clever names!

haha yeah my mom and I came up with the names... at first we were thinking like... sunny and peach but peach is girly and sunny is all too common so we decided on orangjello and lemonjello! :D

This morning I woke up to orangjello building a nice bubble nest. I went to my horse show and just got back, and now its huge! covers about 1/8 of his side of the tank. Lemonjello is sitting there flaring at orangjello making his nest and after every few bubbles, orangjello swims over, flares a few times, and goes back to making his bubble nest... Lemonjello will not leave orangjello alone! oh well, Im ordering tall plants after I finish this and theyll ship on Thurs. I believe.
