Meet Inky, Dinky and Pinky. Pics don't do justice on their colours (sorry for the poor pic quality but my camera is crap). Apologies for the streaks on the glass - it looked clean, shocking how photo's show up the slightest streaks.
Is it possible to identify their tail types from these?
Dinky, the biggest of the 3, has a silver/metallic blue body with lighter blue at the edges of her fins. The pic makes her look likes she's cut up, but she isn't, she got metallic red ventrals and tips to her gill plates.
Inky is a deep inky blue with paler blue streaks in her fins. Her dorsal fin is semi transparent with dark blue speckles.
Pinky (should have called her porky, she eats like a little pig!) looks like she's taken a head beating with her pink/red colouring. She has irridescent purple streaks through her fins.
Dinky - trying her hardest to hide from the camera
Inky & Pinky
Inkky & Pinky - You can just see Disco's fins through the plants on the left
The best news is that having a harem has stopped Disco from tail biting - just hope it'll grow back nicely now.
Yes, I know it isn't advised to keep males and females together, I have heard the horror stories.
Disco has always been very placid, and after trying countless ways to stop him tail biting a local breeder suggested getting him some females. Although he still doesn't flare, not even at the girls, he has stopped tail biting. So, please don't turn this into a "remove them to another tank immediately" post.
