I just got my first giant betta today from Aquabid.com. It honestly felt like christmas! I obviously was expecting him to be big, but wow, it's one thing to see a picture, but to see him in person was breathtaking. I love him so much and can't wait to get another. I love all my bettas, but I just wanted to brag about my new baby

so my crazy boy decided to build a bubble nest for no reason. I recently switched foods so I don't if that anything to do with it, but it's a beauty. He def has a mind of his own.

They sell them in the States only at Petco as King Bettas

Thanks. yeah they sell them at Petco, but I wouldn't trust them. You just don't know the health and history. Your best bet is to get them from aquabid straight from a thai seller or an american seller that got them transhipped from Thailand. That's what I did. Jennifer Viveiros is the Transhipper for the East Coast and her packing was fabulous. After losing a fish in transit before getting him I was really down, but he came fine, swimming and flaring like a fool. I highly reccommend her. I think her Aquabid profile is hopdiggity.

I'm probably going to have a betta shipped from Thailand, and I'm glad to hear she's a good transhipper, as I live on the east coast.

Awesome! Call me crazy, but there's just something about Thai bettas that make them so special. American breeders do a nice job and I look forward starting my own farm, but Thais are always so spunky and bright. They can be expensive, but I wouldn't trade them for anything else. Even my giant, who's developing this big brute attitude is still my baby. Plus, they seem to be hardier. I had another betta, Chandler, for almost 6 years, and his death wasn't natural so who knows how much longer he could have lasted.
