Rather than run 2 filters for a bit. Can i transfer all the media over from one filter to another with out issue? the old filter is a smaller pump but the media is similar size and should fit fine.

Will this then just pick up and increase as needed????

thanks

That will be fine, as long as the stocking is the same or very similar then all will be OK :)

yer, as already said providing it's similar species and that the old tank was healthy.

When i did mine, i was lucky because Jewel use the same sponges in each tank, just in a different layout. I let mine cycle for 2 days also before adding a few fish to begin the cycle (obviously tested it too)

Actually, it's still fine even if stocking is different. Bacteria will grow if ammonia is increased. If it isn't as heavily stocked bacteria will die. Either way, it really doesn't matter you just use the same rule with when adding fish to mature tanks, slowly :good:

Same stock level just more water and faster flow. i will monitor it for a few days or more. once fish are settled and the water is stable i will add the extra slowly as said.

Im tempted to move my media to the new filter now and run the new filter on the old tank.
