The dechlorinator I've bought recently states that to remove chlorine, I should add:

"10ml for every 70 litres of water"

Now, my water changes take place per 20 litres - In two buckets of 10 litres (it's actually the same bucket used twice...just incase someone got confused) So, basically, I have to dechlorinate 10 litres worth of water - which is 1.43ml

How the hell do you guys measure that amount?! There must be a way?

It also states that to remove chloramines, I should add 10ml for every 35 litres of water. I'm assuming that if I add enough to remove chlorine (as above) that I'm also removing the chloramine. Logic says so, but my logic has failed me in the past, so I'd be greatful if anyone could confirm this for me too?!

Tanking you!

OOOOooohhhh yeah! Duuuh...I should have thought about that myself. I'll bring some back from work on Tuesday! Thanks for thinking for me...AGAIN! :D

I think the pipettes you get with meds are about 1ml. For the 1.43ml you need to add, just do 1 and a half pipettes full.

Just put 5ml in, that's what I do and all is well. I put in Stress Coat and Stress Zyme, I'm sure other products work just as well but I have always used them and never had any disease in the tank. (Touch wood!) :)

I wouldn't worry too much about measuring 1.43 ml exactly.

I'd just add 2 or 3 drops and leave it at that.

My ml dropper measures 20 drops per ml. of Prime dechlorinator, which is similar in viscosity to water, which generally measures the same, 20 drops per ml. At a suggested dechlor rate of 1 ml per 10 gallons, I pre-mix a few gallons to top off tanks at a rate of 2 drops per gallon.

Tolak

I have a syringe too, makes it easier. I usually end up putting a little more than I should. Doesn't hurt anything at least not with what i use.

I just estimate and dump it in... haven't had any problems so far :D

Hi, I actually queried with Hagen about the 10ml per 70 gallons for chlorine and 10ml per 35 gallons for chloramines. (I was adding the two together!!) You just use the higher dosage for chlorine and chloramines, ie 10 ml per 35 litres. I've also started to use a syringe, not that I think overdosing a little hurts, it's just that it saves me money cos I only dose the amount I need!

I never measure my dechlorinator. I just squirt some in the buckets or if it's the large tank and I use the python, I squirt a little ever so often as it fills. You would have to put an extremely large amount in to OD the tank.
