Hi...my son is 11 and we are new to keeping fish but have now been thoroughly hooked  We've also already made some classic newbie mistakes.
We'll have lots of questions for the various forums, but my first one is regarding user names. He's never participated on a message board before, but wants to come here.Is it ok if we share a user name or is that not ok? If we need separate ones I guess I'd have to set him up with his own e mail account in order to register him.

Thanks in advance.

I don't see why it would be a problem!

Welcome to the forum you two! :)

Hiya Koda!!

I would get him his own account. Since this forum is so addicting you my find yourself posting here quite regularly and it would be best to avoid confusion. But sharing is good too  Either way,we're glad you're here!

Thanks...I was sorta having the same thought.Even if we each signed with our own names it could be confusing.

Welcome Koda! You and your son will find much information here! There are many informative members here that will be happy to help you. this is truely a friendly community for both you and your son! I would suggest hooking your son up with his own account, but helping him through the forum in case he feels unfamiliar with everything. If you do a yahoo account it takes about 2 minutes to sign up! Again, welcome! :D

Thanks...he'd definitely need my help to navigate at first, and he'd always be supervised as well. But I've been checking the place out and it seems like a great place for him to get his feet wet :D

Glad to have you and your son here. I'm kind of new too but as the others have said, there are many intelligent people here so you can ask away. Also, I have been to others before, and this one is definately the best to introduce your young son to. Everyone here is really friendly and helpful. Also, with his own account he could have his own avatar and signature, giving him a sense of belonging and responsibility. Just a mere thought. Once again, :hi:

Welcome!

It's wonderful that you and your son are both getting into the same hobby.. We are expecting a baby boy in a month and we can't WAIT for him to be old enough to watch the "live entertainment" in our tanks.

Good luck and have a great time!!
