(not just water chemistry differences, the loaches could be highly stressed by the cichlids, plus the loaches do far better in heavy current river setups)
If you want something for the tank floor, get a group of Rift Valley lake synodontis... njasae (a rare Malawi syno); multipunctata; grandiops; lucipinnis; petricola etc.
