If you've been adding the Ammonia and it is going down in 12 hours then you are nearing the end of your cycle so that is good.

When I got to this stage I was only adding small amounts of ammonia and just wating for the nitrites to dissapear. If you are going away for two days, and still want to keep adding ammonia, assuming no-one else can add it for you...drop a prawn or two in.

Not long now dude. Mine took 28 days but I didn't use any existing media/gravel. Remember to do a large water change when done. Also, check your PH - mine was averaging 5.6 when doing a fishless cycle!

@Abyss, Thanks for the reply m8 :)

Got back last night about 22.30 and tested water, got zero on ammonia and nitrite, added 5 ppm of ammonia.
Tested this morning at 10.30 but still had about 1 ppm on the test of ammonia, now reading zero at 13.00 but nitrite is at 5 or more.
Hopefully not knocked the cycle out to much??

Temp 30c and 8ph
