is it at all possible to keep mbuna cichlids in a community set up?

thanks. x

only with other mbuna's, put them in your "standard tropical" setup with tetras and the like, and they will nom nom everything. Do you want that to happen? DO YOU? :X :look:

it really should not be tried - Mbuna are aggressive and should ideally be kept in slightly overstocked tanks with other Mbuna to spread the aggression.

mix them with any fish from other regions and you are asking for trouble.

ah that's a shame!

maybe its time to buy another tank!!!!!! :hey:

my lfs said i have perfect water for these fish with a high ph and its very hard?! iv not researched them to be honest. x

No - the territorial and aggressive temperament of these cichlids makes them totally unsuitable for general community tanks. There may also be problems mixing with other cichlids, so you would have to do your research on this before you buy.
