If i wanted to mature my filter sponge cold i jst leave it floating in my other tank?

That will work, but it would best to add it to another filter, if you can't do that, try to put it in a place where it will be in the flow of water from your filter.

I would definately try and put it either in a filter or near the flow like he said. The sponges will absorbe the bacteria just floating but it will take longer.

I have a trickle filter in the hood system and I always keep the return chamber full of sponge as you never know when you might need some matured media! :good: Floating sponges are a good idea if you don't mind the look of it. Why not tie them with a bit if fishing line and tether them around your filter out flow to ensure maximum air/nutrient supply

its in a different shape to my other filter which is why i suggested floating it
