This may have been asked before but why don't we have one?

Would it not increase the interest in marine and the marine section TFF has.

I know not many people have marine tanks so if there's no new tanks for say one or two months the tank voted before would remain the winner?

Besides we have pet of the month and that's not even related to fish!

I agree, but there would be very few entries.
If we are gonna get a MTOM, we should get a MFOM for marine fish .
Personally I like the fish comps better. You can have a well kept tank but have poorly kept fish but you can't have well kept fish without a well kept tank.

TOTM is also for marine tanks, same as FOTM is also for marine fish.
 
Its just this forum seems to have 99% Freshwater Fish content.

It's kind of hard to compare marine to freshwater as most think that salty is more colorful than freshwater.

I believe they should be two different things. Can't put a sw fish in a fw tank

1, yes we'd love to have these competitions, they help inspire people and bring them to the forum.
 
however
 
2, are they going to actually get enough entries to garner enough attention to get proper voting going.
 
Personally I'd rather win a competition with plenty of competitors and lots of voting than be the best of 2 or 3 tanks or fish and splitting off marine does distract from entries to the other section slightly (we do get occasional entries there)

Although I do agree with you why not try and see what happens. I spend a fair bit in the marine section to say it's increasing slowly but it is indeed growing. I'd love to see more members in the marine section though.

Haven't got a marine tank so I suppose I shouldn't comment - why not put it to the vote and see how many would be interested?

Everyone except mods ( who would have to work for hours to get it up and running ) would be all for it.
