Marine To Fresh Water Tank

Any tips (apart from a lot of elbow grease) on cleaning up a marine tank and filter media ready for fresh water? Would the media be ok for fresh water? I can get some new and half and half what I already have, just seems a shame to waste the media if its any good.

i would scrap that filter media you have assuming its filter floss/foam
my tank is an ex-marine tank , all i had to do was give it a good scrub and change the filter media.
also in any powerheads or filters check that there isn't a dead bristleworm lying in there. i had one floating around in my tank,
not a nice thing to clean up
