I recently recieved some fish food samples (Aqueon). Some of the samples are for Marine fishes. I however do not have any saltwater fishes and instead of wasting it (I do not know anyone with a saltwater aquarium), I was wondering if it was safe to feed freshwater fishes saltwater foods. I have feed my freshwater fishes 'frozen' marine foods from time to time, but I'm not sure if the flake/pellot foods would be ok.

You should compare the ingredients of the saltwater food to the ingredients of the freshwater food and see how they compare?

I have read and compared the ingrediants, they are pretty much the same except the marine food has Spirulina and a couple of other ingrediants the freshwater food do not. The crude fat, fiber, ash, moisture, and P04 are basically exactly the same.
I have read on another site that feeding 'saltwater' fishes 'freshwater' fish foods can lead to liver desease, obviously I dont want to happen to my fresh water fishes if I were to feed them saltwater foods.

I've emailed the Aqueon and asked them.
