Females are usually a lot smaller than males, and will show orange/red markings on their bellys. This can range from small spots to an overall blush that can cover the entire belly. Males are generally much larger than females and will show long extensions on their dorsal and anal fins. Males will also sometimes show the orange markings on their belly just like females, but they are usually far smaller and much less prominent that on females. Females will also sometimes show the long fin extensions that males do, but this is fairly uncommon. The best way to find yourself a pair of Convicts is to raise between 6 and 10 fish from juveniles together and let a bond develop. This should happen when the fish reach between 1.5 and 2". The other fish should be returned to the petshop at this point, otherwise carnage" :good:

marbled convicts are just a new strain for convict

i just need a male for my female lol, are the males all white?

The only way you would get a female that was all white was if she were quite immature or a very bad specimen. As reported above look for gold or orange scales in the belly area which always mark a female.

i dont want a female, i allready have it, i want a male for the female

According to one site, 'Sexing this species is rather simple. Convict males usually have longer dorsal and anal fins with filaments trailing from the caudal fin upon reaching a mature age. They are often larger than the female. They also tend to grow a nuchal hump. Females are more brightly colored with an orange underside and brighter coloration through the fins.'. Although if that method doesn't work, perhaps introduce three or so and wait for a pair to form.

oo i though that marble males where pure white.. am i right?

No, males will show the same amount of marbeling that females do, just the females have a very orange/pink belly. Unless that is, the shop is selling poor specimins in which case they wont have the marbaling effect.

oh i have a male with a very small bit of orange on his top fin, but all the other marble cons where females and that is the only 1 i could find to a male!
