So, my friend with the tiny awful tank is gone for a week, and I am in the fishlet's care. >:D
I'll try to get ammonia readings and dimensions soon, but I'll tell you what I can.

The stocking is 2 Glofish (Yes, GLOfish, not Glowfish), 2 yoyo loaches, a common pleco.
It is 5 or less than 5 gallons.
It has a faulty filter and i dont know if the heater works.

The pleco has cottony stuff on his gills and fin rot.
There is no water movement.

So what can I do, safely?

PS: Other than steal the fish in the night...

If they've been in there for a long time you shouldn't change too much water. The shock of having to adapt from dirty to clean water can be as harmful as being in dirty water. Gradually change the water out in 10-20% increments.
If you have the money and the inclination, I urge you to consider making their environment more suitable. :)

Oh yikes!  Not a good situation.. how long has that tank been set up?
Good advice from TallTree about the water changes.  I wouldn't advise changing much behind your friend's back, persuading them to do it themselves would be better if possible.

It had been up for less than a year.
Thanks for the advice so far!

If you celebrate Christmas: early Christmas present (bigger tank)?

I don't think they are even interested in the fish, and they don't have enough room for a big tank. I'll do the wcs

UMMMMMMMM?!!!!!?!

common pleco in 5 gallon? u serious? do exactly what munroco says you've got the chance!

Glofish need to be in groups of 6 or more
yoyo leach also need to be in groups of 6
and common pleco (i think the problem is plain obvious)

This is your chance! We are stealing the fish from them now! PM me, I have the passports. We are moving to Mexico and working at a guacamole stand. Your name is now Chica.

*facepalm*

I'll ask if they even what the fish when they get back.
Thread closed?

LOL !

Lyra - yes, I'd say test the water and small water changes and try to educate the owner about these fish's needs when they get back and persuade them to either upgrade or rehome.  That poor pleco doesn't sound to be in a fit state to rehome, though :(

aw poor fish :( say the pleco died-if they arent real fish people then you can just say the cotton stuff took over his body and he died, then say its because there isnt enough space for them all and they need to get a bigger tank and working filter!
but yeah, small water changes and see if you can make shift a dead pleco to take photographic evidence for them :D

That's a shame - I (even though I am a newbie to all this) find it quite upsetting when people don't do research before buying any sort of fish ESPECIALLY when the fish are at extremities like this. It's a shame =/

I'd steal them or at least forcefully persuade them to give the fish to you :D

They're back, I'll ask about the fishlet's soon. :)
