Has anybody bought any mandarins from liveaquaria.com? I kind of wanted one for my future tank, but it has to be able to eat frozen or freeze dried foods. None of the fish stores around me sell any marine fish, so I have to buy everything online...

I emailed liveaquaria asking what the mandarins ate. Here's the emails:

My email:
Hello, I noticed you sell mandarin fish for sale. I know these fish are
difficult to feed, and was wondering if you did anything special to
feed them before they are sold. I would be interested in buying them if
they ate frozen foods, because otherwise I don't have a large enough
tank. What do you feed them before they are shipped?

Their response:
Thank you for contacting us with your question on Mandarins. We feed
them frozen Brine and Mysis shrimp in our shipping facility before they
are sent to customers. We recommend having a well established aquarium
with live rock which will have Copepods that are a natural food source
for them. They will learn to eat a variety of vitamin-enriched live
brine shrimp, live black worms, and natural prey on live rock and live
sand.

Thought this would be of interest to others. :good:

I have a scooter blennie and everyone told me he would die within 2 months....well it's been over 6 months now and he seems to be doing great. He eat mainly brine shrimp and pecks on the rocks a lot....I'm guessing eating. He just started eating bloodworm and I bought a brine shrimp maker online. I make them every other weeks and I'm hoping they colonise the tank.

I buy all my fish online and I never had a problem with any of them. I also bought coepods online. They seem to have seeded my tank cause now I can see small whitespots on the back of the tank.

Have fun!!!

that is really good. most fish stores there mandarins usually dont eat freeze dried. i am thinking about getting a mandarin for my 50 gallon so i might get it from there.
thanks :good:
