Ok, as some of you know im setting up a marine nano.
Well hopefully!
Now I would love a mandarin for the tank.
It will be the orca tl550.
Im hoping to get one for the main 'Showpeice'.
Now I would wait 6 months till I got one as I know they need an established tank.
But im just wondering if I should get one?
I would ovbiously cultre copepods or w.e
But I want to know peoples opinions.
Wether you think a newbie marine-ist would be able to give it the best life possible?
Ok im dragging on now.
Thanks in advance.

If you can buy a tank breed juvie that is feeding on frozen (TMC occassionaly have them, Trod got one) and you culture pods and feed every couple of days then go for it :good: if you can't do ALL these things, then don't do it

Sorry if I sound dumb.
What whats TMC?
And I think I will look much further in it.
I need the tank before I start planning fish.
Thanks though!

I think tmc is a large wholeseller for fish that all the lfs buy from. I also thought about getting a mandy but decided against it, they have very poor survival rates in captivity unless you find one like seffie just mentioned.

Yes indeed, as Victor said they are a large wholesaler which many lfs buy from :good: it is likely you would have to order one

I think I might leave one then.
I dont want to mistreat a fish.
Or to put the other fish indanger and what not.
Back to revising!

I wouldn't dismiss one out of hand, just put it on hold for a few months, wait to see how your tank develops, leave a space for one then you can make a final decision when you're ready.
I have been very lucky with mine and she is nice and healthy, but as seffie says, she is tank breed (a rare find) and eats frozen.
If you are prepared to put in the work, then it is possible to have one. :good:
