i bought 2 female bettas yesterday from a LFS to join my other female betta, with the male sectioned off i added them. Male is a super delta btw. One of the "females" i bought is a bit lager with larger pectoral fins and is a little more agressive. It has been flareing at the male and chasing him along the plastic, my super delta male is very placid and had him living with the original female befor i thought to add these two. He isnt flaring back at this new male/female who i think is a male red dragon.

Should i take the female back to the shop and ask him what he thinks or see if it settles down, or other... i mean is it even possible it could be a male red dragon mixed up?

It is possible, do you have ay other bettas? See if it flares at that one. You might want to take it back anyway.

Yeah it does flare at the other females too, but mainly the male. I am going to give it 30mins to settle down as i have sectioned off the "female" to see if she/he will calm down, so going to reintroduce now... and see if it goes straight to the male sectioned off bit... if so another half hour and if its still the same its going back... maybes i get more money than i paid for it being a male now :)

Silver lineing?

Yah, you may have got a male worth more than what you payed for.

I paid £1.75, think the females are more than that usually! i ended up takeing him back and swapped for a female, i was going to just have the placid/weaker/recessive male in my community tank, but i think the flow is a bit much and i can imagine him making snacks with the odd fry that would otherwise survive in that tank. Also the male dwarf gourami might bully him.

So hopefully everything is settled now.
