It is possible, though rare. Does the female Platy look pregnant or are you hoping they'll breed?

Any fry will probably be sterile, meaning they themselves can not breed once they reach maturity.
(Just like the mule, the offspring of a horse and a donkey is sterile and can not breed - due to a different number of chromosomes.)
Though Live bearing female fish are known to store sperm for up to six months. How long have you had the females? If the answer is less than a month than it is possible they did the nasty at the pet store and are using the stored sperm to reproduce.

Hope that answers your question :)

thanks krishtack sory i probably spelled it wrong shes alredy pregnant 3 weeks 5 days and i was hoping they didnt breed but if they did id be fine with it thanks

IT is inpossible there is no way thet mollys and platy's can cross breed

No they will never ever breed, it'd be like breeding you with a lion.

Swords and pkaties yes, I've even heard rumour of guppies and mollies.... But platy and mollies. No way.

This gets debated occasionally. General consensus is that it shouldn't work, and nobody has ever, by all appearances, managed to make it work deliberately, but some people claim it has happened.

I'm afraid that you'll have to take from that what you will.

thats like saying a guppy and swordtail wont breed but i have seen fish breeders that had a tank for culled guppies and swordtails andhave had guppies give birth to fry that grew up to be all female but have the sword gene with a green and black distinct line, they would use it to fight and everything, only 2 of these females could produce fry but only 3 batches.. but the outcome was back to swordies, platy or guppies :)
