I know in the store male bettas are next to each other and people say that stresses them out seeing each other all the time, but in the stores there's a lot more to stress them out so I can understand this making it worse. But if the bettas are in a good home and healthy is it ok to have 2 tanks near each other with a male betta in each of them. Wont they get used to each other and stop flaring?

Depends on the betta's personality but it shouldn't be a problem. Give them a break every now and then, as Bettas can develop blowfin (when their membrane becomes stretched and worn from too much flaring).

Would probably be best to keep them at least a few feet apart so they can't see each other very well.

You can keep them next to eachother but if they refuse to stop flaring at eachother then it's easy enough to get a large piece of card/cardboard to put between the tanks.

they certainly can be kept next to each other. jus tmake sure there is some cover in each tank to break up line-of-sight. they will flare for a while but will calm down in time. if you are worried, some paper or cardboard as suggested between the tanks will do just fine. just make sure there is a lid on both tanks.
cheers

What if there is a floating plant in each tank. I put a small live plant in all my tanks because the bettas love to rest on top of the leaves at night and build a bubblenest around them.

They can be kept together and they will flare but eventually they will learn to live next to one another, maybe you could put a plant or ornament in each tank so they won't be able to see each other :)
