Soooo I'm thinking about adding some snails to my tank. I'm changing to sand this week which is why I thought the MTS would be a good idea but the fact that they reproduce like mad makes me a little nervous. Then I saw that my LFS has a couple of rabbit snails in and they are very cool looking!

Do any of you have any opinions or advice on what I should do? Or should I just avoid them alltogether!

if you've got plants, then you wont want the rabbits.

MTS don't grow very big so you wont notice them much - they are almost always buried in the substrate.

Apple snail? Plant friendly & active.

I don't currently have plants but it may not always be that way, as I get more confident with my tank the more I think about trying plants out.

I really like the shape of the MTS and the fact that they burrow in the sand, keeping it fresh. Do apple snails reproduce a lot?

Oh! One more question, what about assassin snails? I understand they are unlikely to breed.

Assassins are bigger than MTS and they do breed.....but not ludicrously (like MTS given enough food).

I've got assassins and MTS in my tank - I rarely see either because the MTS are buried and that's where the assassins are hunting them!

So is a combo of the two the way to go? I have a fully stocked 48L tank do I need to worry about the additional bioload of snails?
