I got some hitchhikers on a plant I just bought. I nearly panicked, but having read up on them, I've decided not to rush out and buy those assasin snails. Not many so far, maybe half a dozen, but 4 or 5 of those have popped up in the last couple of days.
My question is this: I've let some brown algae build up on the back of the tank because it hides the wall behind the tank. But will all that food cause the snail population to explode? Will scrubbing some of that algae slow the growth of the colony?
My tank is 15 gallons, sand substrate, 6x neons, 5x pygmy corys, 2x ghost shrimp, and a couple of plants.
Any and all advice appreciated -- thanks!
