Please advice if this is normal behaviour some of my malawi have decided to take a rest on the rocks and bottom of the tank what is funnie is that they return to the same spot.

Hi,
I dont wont to worry you but when i had malawi the,fish used to lie on the bootom of the tank and they used to die often about a day later .
They may have a disease such as swim bladder im not to sure, have you got any water levels ?
Not to sure at the moment

Depends on the species. Some certainly will. The males often build little pits in the sand in my tank and try to antice females to spawn. And some like to use certain areas over and over. And, hence, will appear to spend alot of time 'sitting' in one particular place.
I should point out here I do not know what type of Malawi you have nor their age. I would recommend checking your water stats and watching for any signs of possible illness or stress in your fish.
