I have taken some interest in these nice looking africans. I have kept lots of africans in the past, but was just looking for some personal expirence with Malawi Eye biters, just some insight. Thanks for the info.

You wants some 'insight' into 'Eye biters' ? very good!

Just treat them like any other open water Hap, they're predatory but peaceful towards similar sized fish so fine in your average (omnivorous) african setup alongside the likes of Peacocks, haps, synos and bichirs

If you do buy these fish, buy a small group of juveniles. Don't repeat the mistake that I made - This happened a few years ago, I bought a pair of Haplochromis compressiceps from BAS, which were around 8" in size showing distinct male & female colouration. I wanted to breed these fish (being an experienced fish & rift breeder I should have known better) made the mistake of isolating them in their own tank - BIG MISTAKE! the male killed the female before I had the chance to do anything.
My advice is buy juveniles in a group, or if you must buy adult keep them in a large tank with similar sized Haplo's.
I did at least have some success showing the Male on the show circuits, but I would have prefered to have bred them. Hope this experience helps you.

Good luck :good:
