Hi guys

This is the current situation:
n720420343_2747289_2924.jpg

residents: One male Betta - not sure of type?
One baby Apple Snail

I am bored of this tank it looks very dull sat next to my planted community aquarium.
However, I am not sure what to do to jazz it up?

I was thinking adding a background - but the plastic tank isnt terribly clear; and changing the white sand to smooth fine gravel to make the betta stand out... but not sure... and what plants can i add that wont injure the betta but will provide food for the baby apple snail..?

please can you post pictures of your betta tanks to give me some inspiration!! i am re-vamping this tank and my cold water tank....

so after some inspiration... watch this space!!

thanks

Laura

THey look so gorgeous Netty! :good:

are there any types of fake plants that wont injure the betta - im so worried because when i got him his tail was in shreds and its only just starting to heal... also if i do keep the sand is there any plants that will grow in it?

keep the pictures coming!!!

:good:

Thanks :good: The second tank has sand and the plants are growing fine in it. An alternative to live plants are silk ones. A rule of thumb is to run a pair of tights over and if it doesn't snag it should be fine. With the coconut shells we sanded them down so they are really smooth. We also have frogbit in our tanks which floats and the bettas love to rest in the roots. If you look at Phoenixbabys post Re; New boy....we sent her some and there are pics to show what it looks like.

he likes to have lots of things to swim in between

Thank you Netty!

The frogbit does look very nice.

Im not sure if their is enough space in the tank to ass lots of plants - but i cant think of something to use as a main focal point.

This is a recent pic of my community tank - its been moved around a little since:

Thank you - seeing small tanks helps me picture what could be done with mine a bit more - i want it to be colourfull but i want the betta to stand out

get some black sand, he'll stand out lovely against it

real plants r betta imo, they clear some crap out the water, they look nice, n betta's love em

deco wise, how about making a little slate cave?

Im worried about a large ornament like a slate cave taking up to much of the tank...

i have been told my tank is quite roomy for a betta but i dont want to get rid of a lot of swimming space.

can you post up pictures of your tanks pheonix baby?

does anyone know what sort of betta he is?

thanks

have u got a pic of him flared?

wow your tank are really nice - where do you buy the dividers from? or do you make them?

i dont have any pics of him flaring. when i put a background on the tank he flares at it alot. is flaring bad for him? will it stress him out?

i got my divider from ebay, its called a penplax divider :)

he sorta looks like a CT to me but im not sure

not bad for them no, just wack a mirror infront, snap a pic, sorted, few seconds of flaring n minimal stress :good:

thanks, theyre not fantastic but they seem to like em lol

cool i shall have a go - im a bit rubbish at taking pictures of them lol.

also how long to they tend to live?

thanks for all the help

ive been told anywhere up to 8years, altho im not sure if im correct on this

i sure hope so!

what sort of ornaments can anyone suggest for the tank - ones that enable the betta to swim through without injury and dont take up too much of his space?
