Maggots?

I was thinking earlier.

Being a fisherman, I most of the time have Maggots in my garage fridge. Im presuming these are used as fish food for big enough species but what I was thinking, if frozen and disected would they be eaten by tropical fish? Also would they be safe for them?

ive tryed them with goldfish no problem but then they are a type of carp. i dont think there would be a problem with tropicals just make sure they can fit them in there mouth.

Thinking about this I can't believe I haven't seen this come up before, I'm gonna have to try it....must be fairly good for nutrition right? Good source of protein...

i use fishing pellets in my tank. trout pellets work well. i might try halibut pellet soon.

ive also done this with gold fish but roach ect eat them as well and they are not carp
as said earlyer chop them small enough just a bigger bloodworm (carp also eat them in the wild)

A good thing to remember, If you are familiar with maggots and do a bit of fishing you will know that red maggots(most common used as bait) are dyed and therefore are modified whereas white maggots are natural coloured. It shoudlnt effect fish (as it does not in the wild) but it should be something you should take into account
